Kaz Robertson – Non Precious Jewellery

After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2001, Kaz started the Diverse Gallery Workshops along with fellow graduates Sally Moore and Donna Barry.

Interaction and versatility are two of the most important aspects to her work. In her jewellery she sets magnets within resin so that pieces can easily be changed. Magnetic rings, earrings and brooches allow the wearer to play around with the size and the colour. She sees each piece as a wearable toy and hopes the playability and versatility will surprise and amuse to provide a diversion from every day stress and boredom.

In 2002 she exhibited at SOFA in conjunction with Mobilia Gallery in Boston, USA. She has also shown work in the OXOXO Gallery in Baltimore, USA; ‘New Graduates’ in Holland and ‘A Bright Future’ at the Contemporary Applied Arts in London. She received a Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award of £7000 for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in 2002.

She exhibited at Chelsea Crafts Fair in 2004 and in 2005 was invited to show work in 'Edinburgh Comes to Clerkenwell' at the Lesley Craze Gallery in London and '100% Proof' which opened in the USA before visiting London, Wales and Scotland during 2006.
