Nancy Chinnery, who runs Lynwood Carvers and Gilders with her husband John, was born in Montreal and moved to Scotland in 1975. She is inspired by the skilful designers of the 18th and 19th century who used gold leaf to harness light, emphasising aspects of their designs and creating atmosphere in a room. She trained at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal and has worked on gold surfaces for over 20 years. At Homes & Interiors Scotland she showed a range of mirrors gilded in the traditional way with 23 ¾ ct gold and white gold. They are all individual and innovatively textured and coloured. |
