Alison Macleod, a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone college of art,has returned back home to the Outer hebrides and set up a business, working as a freelance textile designer/artist. Alison received funding from PSYBT and HIE Innse Gall to assist with her launch of Tiger Textiles in July 2008
Tiger Textiles offers a range of textile art pieces made from a variety of techniques, such as, handmade felt, embroidery, screen printing,heat pressing, drawing, painting, CAD and collage. The end piece is usually framed or mounted on to wood and sold in local galleries in Lewis.
Alison welcomes commissions and is always experimenting with new products, and new ways of working. Most of her work is inspired by the Hebrides, the history of the islands, the Gaelic language and the surrounding beauty, although she aims to portray this in a contemporary style.
