Jewellery is made to be worn and this is how all projects are started…with the body. I imagine how each piece will relate to the wearer and how it will make them feel; confident, sophisticated, glamorous, feminine, powerful, happy, silly? Jewellery has the ability to capture all of these elements and more and this is my starting point. Preferring to work with silver wire, usually round in section, to which hammer marks are added, creating textures on the surface that capture and reflect the light.
All the wire is drawn down by hand for each new design, this takes a bit longer but allows me the freedom to be more intuitive with the material, reflecting on the weight of wire and it’s relation to the design and the body. Working in this way means that the whole process is more time consuming but it also means that each piece is completely unique which i believe makes the piece that bit more personal.
I have themed my most current collection “the moonlit garden”. Inspired has by the late summer nights when the ordinary garden is magically transformed by the light of the moon and becomes an enchanted world. Silver leaves, shadows and silhouettes framed by the light of the moon are all around, the world is quiet and anything is possible.
