All my work is blown glass orientated and over time I have worked with a number of cold working techniques to further develop the pieces. Particularly carving , cutting and polishing and sandblasting. I have drawn upon and developed a number of these techniques during my practice. Recently my work has been focused on constructing small installations or objects by bonding together flat and blown glass elements. I aim to capture the natural fluidity of molten glass, in compositions employing a combination of controlled and distorted elements combined with flat glass. I use familiar forms such as stoppered bottles bowls etc. which become a metaphor for us. The intention is to work with the reflective surfaces, distortion and lens effects familiar in glass and its transparency seeing through from one element to another. |
