My work can be described as belonging to the contemporary "glass art" genre. All my work is blown glass orientated and over time I have worked with a number of cold working techniques to further develop the pieces. Particularly carving , cutting and polishing and sandblasting. I have drawn upon and developed a number of these techniques during my practice. Recently my work has been focused on constructing small installations or objects by bonding together flat and blown glass elements. I aim to capture the natural fluidity of molten glass, in compositions employing a combination of controlled and distorted elements combined with flat glass. I use familiar forms such as stoppered bottles bowls etc. which become a metaphor for us. The intention is to work with the reflective surfaces, distortion and lens effects familiar in glass and its transparency seeing through from one element to another.
I enter work for national and international juried exhibitions and pieces are often available at the Scottish Gallery. Previous work can be seen in national and international collections including Royal Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh and V&A London.
