Joanne B Kaar is a renowned artist working from Dunnet Head on the very north coast of Caithness, she is highly acclaimed for her papermaking, bookbinding and collages. Alongside frequent exhibitions across Scotland and beyond, Joanne also runs workshops in papermaking, bookbinding and surface decoration, for all ages and abilities across the country. Her book 'Papemaking and bookinding, Coastal Inspirations' was published in May 2003 by the Guild of Master Craftsman publishers. She was invited by the Chaoyang University of Technology to be their artist-in-residence from August - Dec 2004 to learn the art of eastern style bookbinding and papermaking. In 2006, Joanne completed an artist residency for the Durness Development Group in Mackay Country, Sutherland. These residencies were financed by a national lottery grant through the Scottish Arts Council and funding from the Highland Year of Culture 2007 Partnership.
