People come from all over the world to see and buy his work. Born in 1946, Malcolm Appleby is considered to be one of the most original and highly skilled craftsmen working in Britain today. Known primarily as an engraver, he has been commissioned on many occasions by private companies, public bodies and individuals to produce wonderful pieces of silverware or jewellery. Recent public commissions include: the Royal Medal awarded annually by the Royal Society of Edinburgh; an engraved silver teapot and gold beaded silver bowl for Perth Art Gallery and Museum (2000); and a Sculptural Tablepiece for Bute House, the residence of the First Minister for Scotland (1999). |
