I make a range of functional, domestic, stoneware pottery to be enjoyed in everyday use. Pots are either fired in my small soda-glaze kiln or my larger wood-fired climbing kiln.
I particularly like the unpredictable effects of these firing methods, both of which leave the permanent mark of the flame on the finished pots.
I specialise in the use of wood ash glazes along with traditional Tenmoku and Shino type glazes.
Soda-glaze is very similar to salt glaze and relies on spraying a soda solution into the kiln as temperature approaches 1300 degreesC.
I also make a limited number of large terracotta garden pots as well as slipware bowls.
I mostly sell direct from my basement workshop and showroom at the south end of Dunbar High Street where visitors are welcome on Saturday mornings, or any time by arrangement.
