These ventures provide a focal point around which a whole number of community benefits can unfurl, not least motivational learning opportunities which enrich peoples lives and improve earning potential. Engaged in this way, GalGael has created a range of pieces across a broad spectrum of indigenous crafts; from boatbuilding to furniture making, timber framing to blacksmithing, basketweaving to leathercarving, granite carving to weaving. At times traditional, at others contemporary, they are united by a common theme of integrity of the natural materials used. Indigenous motifs and local history also feature regularly in our work. |
