I am currently based at the courtyard studios in Irvine, where I have been running my studio since July 2004. Prior to this I studied Jewellery and silver smithing at Cardonald College, Glasgow.
My work reflects my interest in textiles, pattern and shape. I experiment using various techniques on the metal such as printing forming and oxidising to achieve a form that resembles a fabric rather than a piece of metal. Combined with use of ribbons in my designs enables me to achieve this contemporary formation.
My use of wire in the cage designs reflects more delicate and refined structures. The lightweight of the pieces allows the wearer to be almost unaware of the jewellery. These designs also allow a large piece of jewellery to be light in weight. The pendants allow choice as they can be worn in various positions.
