BABA: British Artist Blacksmiths Association, Scottish Glass Society
We are Colin & Lisa Badger of Hawk Hill Forge and Art Glass, a husband & wife partnership making furniture with iron, brass, and fused glass tiles. The pieces are designed to permit light to accentuate the tiles, illuminating Lisa's love of natural life forms and patterns in suspended animation.
Influences include Arts & Crafts, Japanese and contemporary philosophies. Lisa studied illustration in ‘70’s New York and Colin practiced craft metalwork in his native Somerset. After rural New Jersey we relocated to Angus. Notably, we appeared at Philadelphia Furniture Show 2004.
The art glass pieces made by Lisa Badger are assembled with ground glass arranged in hand carved molds or with several layering techniques using combinations of crushed or cut, coloured and dichroic glass, then kiln fired. Besides tiles, she also creates platters, bowls, and window pieces.
Colin’s metalwork is anvil forged and shaped, or carefully welded to hide joints, making it clean but still rustic in appearance. Pieces are sandblasted & painted with a hard blacksmith finish, making them impervious to weather and garden use. Brass panels are hand-machined with a patina hand applied and finished. He does commissioned metalwork as well.
Please call, we look forward to talking with you.
