Mark Ramsden lives and works in rural Aberdeenshire where he runs a small and exclusive Bindery specialising in hand produced books of exceptional quality and design. His work has been exhibited throughout Britain and in Europe and he has won many awards and accolades for his stunning designs and the exquisite finishing of his work.
His books range from single section work bound in paper and cloth up to individually designed commissions executed in leather and parchment and includes all binding styles and techniques. He uses many different materials in his bindings including wood, slate and metal. Mark is involved in teaching and promoting bookbinding and uses his Bindery to expand the knowledge of the craft and introduce students to the traditional and established skills and techniques of binding and repairing ancient volumes as well as creating modern pieces of art.
Mark not only produces unique hand made books for clients he also repairs and restores valued tomes ranging from setting up extensive library conservation projects down to an individual treasure saved from someone’s childhood.
