After spending his apprenticeship with Eric Smith in Glasgow Russell Dougal Caldwell set up Mithril in 1988 with the aid of the Prince’s trust. Since then he has been commissioned by public companies, private bodies and individuals to produce lovely, individualistic pieces of silverware. Recent commissions were a silver daffodil for The Marie Curie Cancer Care. He also made the Iona goose for the Iona community.

The Golden Age of Celtic Art and The Art Nouveau movement have inspired Russell to produce, using traditional hand finishing methods, intricate and unique pieces of jewellery. He makes brooches to belt buckles, cufflinks to quaichs, earrings to kilt pins.

Russell now has a wide range of high quality silver, gold and enamel jewellery, often incorporating semi precious stones, from indigenous to original contemporary style. All pieces are hallmarked by the Scottish assay office in Edinburgh.

Russell prides himself on the quality of his product and customer service.

You will find Mithril at 38 Battlefield Road near Langside monument. Catalogue available.
