I hold a B.S. in Environmental Design and Master of Fine Arts degree in Textile Art and Costume Design from the University of California at Davis. As a textile artist, I explore the visual, cultural and technological aspects of digital textile printing. I work to create connections between two-dimensional print design and three-dimensional forms and regularly show my artwork in national and international juried exhibitions.
I am often driven by the desire to push the technology to the limits of what it can do. In my work, I try to make what brings my computer to grindingly slow speeds look effortless in the final product. I often work with my own photography of the natural environment to create imagery that is super-imposed, photo-realistic, but physically not possible in the natural world. I am perpetually intrigued by repeating designs, and often create integrated repeats from my images
I have been researching, designing and creating artwork using digital ink jet printing technology for textiles since 1998. I have consulted for a number of academic institutions as they have integrated the technology into their teaching/research labs, and have published on subjects of design issues, controlling color and integrating the technology into the design process for textiles and apparel.
