Having trained as a ceramicist at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, my work has been influenced over the years by my surroundings and by other Potters that I have worked with in the UK, New Zealand and Japan. The general themes touch on animals, ancient mythology, folklore and the sea, with each piece telling its own story.

In Japan I worked with the Japanese Potter Ryoji Koie , and was influenced by eastern culture and simplicity.

My work has been exhibited in many galleries throughout the UK, such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London to the Royal Museum of Scotland. It is also in private collections around the world from the Carribean, to Japan, New Zealand and the United States.

I currently teach ceramics at the Leith School of Art and Loretto School.

I like to experiment using different materials (eg molten glass and metal) where possible and hope that the finished product will have a domestic use as well as being decorative. All works are hand built /and or thrown on the wheel, using a diverse range of clay, glazes and glaze firings. Raku and stoneware firings produce vibrant copper lustres and rich oxide glazes.
