Craft MakerPenelope Anne Weir, Loch-an-Eilein Pottery Aviemore, Inverness shire AwardsSelected for Crafts Council Photostore Loch-an-Eilein Pottery Accepts Commissions Price Range£5 to £55 Visitor count: 332 Penny works in a studio/workshop - a shed - attached to her home, 2 miles from Aviemore, throwing pots and glost firing them in a small electric kiln. She makes mostly functional domesticware (with a tourist market in mind), that are hand thrown in terracotta and glazed predominantly with blues, greens and a rich turquoise. The glazes are allowed to run and merge freely, so no two pots are exactly alike, and the result is a spontaneous effect of colour and movement, illustrating Penny's enjoyment in handling the colour as well as the clay. |
