Kirbytextiles designs a contemporary range of hand painted greetings cards and ladies scarves. Each design is a one off and completely individual. Techniques include hand painting, screen printing and mono printing. All designs are created by Louise Kirby on 100% silk in her WASPS studio in Dundee. She works in an innovative way, creating collections of designs in a natural process which allows experimentation and retains the lively painterly quality in her products.

Main themes include the juxtaposition of patterns to create interesting stripes and abstract compositions. Inspiration for her work draws from a range of cultural sources through her travels in South East Asia. Breath taking landscapes of northern Vietnam, stripes of palm trees on deserted Thai beaches and pattern and textures feature heavily in her work.

Designs for silk greetings cards vary in theme form abstracts, flowers, stripes and animals.

Louise graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone college of Art in 1999 with an honors degree in printed textiles and has taught on design projects with first year students.
