Matthew makes furniture from wood. His work is robust, informal and honest – inspired by the craftsmen of old. The furniture is constructed to allow for the natural movement of wood, which is a living medium with its own history. Matthew works to commission and takes pleasure in translating his customers’ ideas into pieces of furniture that are beautiful, useful and designed to last.

Stencilling often depicts the form and wildlife urrounding the workshop. Other materials include: iron, glass, ceramic tiles, stone, leather and rope. An exhibition of work is on show. Visitors can see wild flower meadows, lambs, ancient and new indigenous woodlands and the herd of Welsh Cob horses with foals. Robert Burns visited the farm which lead him to write the song ‘Craigieburn Wood’.
