Meadow Mill Studios Accepts Commissions Visitor count: 236 Colour is an important part of my work and I take my inspiration from bold, brightly coloured graffiti. In order to preserve this vibrancy in my jewellery, my research led to the use of rubber tube, which is found in fishing tackle. This was ideal, as I wanted to work with a material that was easily manipulated in contrast to the precious metal. After further experimentation I began to incorporate the ends of balloons and silicone rubber. These new materials, have resulted in further development of my work, and also add variety among my pieces of jewellery. The simple, silver forms of my pieces act as a base for the decoration – the colourful, flexible rubber. I wanted to add a personal touch to my pieces through the use of text so have incorporate rhymes that were from my childhood, which I feel adds a playful element to my pieces. |
