Using elements of breathing as a constant theme, Suilven Plazalska explores the limits of air and expansion, defining the enclosed and surrounding space - space as container but also contained.
Suilven, 25, graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2001 with a BA (Hons) Design, Silversmithing & Jewellery. She has also continued her work, through workshops and lectures, with schoolchildren, teachers, and a number of community groups.
Suilven's pieces are strongly concept-based and alongside traditional materials such as silver and gold, she also uses various plastics and other
man-made materials. Found objects not only provide inspiration for Suilven,
but are often incorporated into her finished pieces.
