North Lands Creative Glass is a centre of excellence in the art of glass making and is situated in Lybster, a small fishing village on the North East Coast of Scotland. North Lands is open both to glass artists and to painters, sculptors, architects and designers wishing to explore the technical and artistic potential of glass either on its own or in combination with other materials. Through its programme of summer masterclasses, its annual conference and its residencies, North Lands aims to stimulate a lively exchange of ideas whilst also allowing time for reflection and action in a professional environment. The programme is based at the new state of the art Alastair Pilkington Studio which was opened in July 2002.

There are two main kinds of masterclasses. They can be about introducing artists to the creative possibilities of a particular glass technique, be it sand casting, lost wax casting, lampworking or glass blowing. Alternatively, classes may be led by artists from disciplines other than glass who work with glass specialists to develop new ideas.

The studio facilities are available for hire by individuals and groups of artist when not required for core activities.
