East Cottage Accepts Commissions Visitor count: 178 I am a weaver making various sizes of hangings, using wool weft on cotton warp. I try and explore ways to define my joy of living and being quite a slow process, weaving allows for all the memories collected in, say, a long walk, to rise to the surface to be integrated in the design. I love the methodical nature of pulling wool through the warp and seeing a solid piece climbing up it. There is no turning back and so unlike painting I can't change what has gone before. I only prepare small sketches and translating these sometimes proves awkward but therein lies the reason why I am so drawn to this medium, effort is the way I chrystallise my thoughts and the harder I try, the more I hone my skill. |
