I am a textile artist working from my studio home on the isle of Lewis, since moving to the Outer Hebrides in 2000 I ‘discovered’ Harris tweed, a beautiful hand woven wool fabric unique to the Outer Hebrides, the subtle individual quality of Harris tweed has become a theme in my work and the island landscape and surrounding ocean inspire my abstract designs.

I like to experiment and create my textile art in new ways, I love fabric, the textures, colours and tactile quality of fabrics, I love how with stitches you can change the texture and look of fabric, which leads to threads, fabric can be further changed by adding threads, today there is such an abundance of beautiful threads to select from I especially love the metallic threads they add sparkle when stitched across wool and cotton like sunlight on the ocean.
