From his workshop near Dunbar in East Lothian, John works mainly to commission on a wide range of bespoke furniture and related timber projects. These objects mostly involve Scottish hardwoods as the main material, and sometimes incorporate small metal, slate or reclaimed materials for detail.
John's furniture can be described as clean lined, simple and highly functional. And also has a sense of robustness where the natural beauty of the timber enhances the over all design.
John exhibits regularly during the year with the Scottish Furniture Makers Association in Scotland, and the Society of Designer Craftsmen in London.
He also has work on permanent display at Broughton Gallery in the Scottish Borders, and usually has a few pieces in The Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder during the summer exhibition period.
