My work touches on past cultures, particularly the ceramic traditions of early Islam.
Most of my iridescent reduction-lustreware are wheel-thrown vessels, using red earthenware.
I particularly enjoy the zen concept that we shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want'.
To avoid the 'tyranny' of the wheel, I also handbuild sculptural and slipcast forms in white clay, using majolica glazes and textured surfaces.
Recent work includes inglaze lustre tiles, murals and lights.
Regularly exhibit work at The Strathearn Gallery, Crieff, The Queen's Gallery, Dundee, The White Gallery, Dundee.
