Volunteer with us

Closing Date 14 March 2010

Are you passionate about the craft sector? Do you enjoy visiting museums but wish that you could get more involved in the exhibitions? Now’s your chance, as craftscotland are looking for a team of volunteers to support us with the running of our first ever exhibition.

Meet Your Maker is the opening event in a much larger campaign emphasising the unique and personal qualities of craft whilst encouraging people to meet the artists behind the work. The exhibition, held in partnership with National Museums Scotland, gives visitors a behind the scenes peek at what happens in the workshops of nine of the best emerging and existing craft makers in Scotland.

Our makers are passionate about what they do. Whether it’s silversmithing, jewellery-making, metal design, ceramics, textiles or glass, we will have makers on-hand during the exhibition to talk about the work and demonstrate the techniques and processes behind their craft. There will also be opportunities for people to purchase work.

The exhibition will include a craftscotland table where visitors can talk to the team, sign up for craftscotland e-newsletters and find out what is happening in craft across the country throughout 2010. Where possible a member of our staff will be on the desk, but we will also require the help of volunteers to ensure that we can spread the word to as many people as possible.

Find out more and download an application form on the bottom left of this page (in Word or PDF).

You can also apply online to volunteer at Meet Your Maker
