The objective of my Felt Making practice is to fuse technical innovation with artistic vision.
Fin Taw was established in 2009, the studio sits in a beautiful forest clearing at Harestanes. My Felts are handcrafted in the studio using traditional and contemporary felt making techniques and fine natural fibres: silk, ultra fine wools, alpaca, angora, and cashmere.
The fibres are carefully selected and often blended or layered together to create subtle but often striking colour effects and colour graduations. The pieces are then subjected to various finishing treatments, cutting, folding, wrapping & binding to create their individual sculptural forms which frame the body.
You can meet the maker, chat about the work in progress or come and join us at 'Felt Club' run from the studio one evening a week, throughout the year. Please call the studio for 2010 schedule.
Year Established: April 2009
