About Digby Morrow - Mannerston Boxes & Bespoke Furniture

Personal Statement

Digby Morrow is a craftsman who makes fine decorative hardwood boxes and bespoke furniture pieces in his workshop on the outskirts of Linlithgow, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Also he makes highly individual pieces to be used as unique ”room features”.

Each project involves innovative design, careful selection of wood and other materials, the build process, decoration by inlaying and marquetry, and finishing using a variety of techniques including French polishing. The result is a unique, lovingly produced, handmade piece of art that could become in time an elegant family heirloom.

Digby works in solid and veneered woods of both domestic and exotic varieties to access the widest range of this wonderful natural material. He prefers to make all his own inlays – banding, stringing, decorative motifs etc. Only the highest quality hardware, normally brass, is used and the finest lining materials, typically leather, silk, and velvet.

Digby’s boxes can have many uses - jewellery, christening, birthdays, dressing, collection, games, keepsake, presentation, special anniversaries etc... They can be a gift for someone special or simply a treat for yourself. Digby's furniture pieces are designed to be "one-offs" with unique features and they are best suited to discerning clients who want something different or who have a specific requirement (spatial, style, function etc).
