About Andrew McCulloch - Stormdancer Creations

Personal Statement

My work is very nature based and incorporates traditionally thrown ceramic ware to more comtemorary handbuilt work. I work in a variety of clays from terracotta to porcelain and all my decoration is achieved by hand.

I work with glazes, slips, oxides, underglazes, enamels and glass to create the effects to my work. I use indigenous nature to supply my subject matter, with the exception of my Earth Dragons and they evolve as they are built. I try to keep the wildlife I use as recognisably Scottish as possible.

I manufacture ceramic cards; to date a snowflake card for Christmas and a boy and a girl baby card. The cards are my own design and are great keepsakes.

The ranges I produce means that there could possibly be something for everyone.

I am in the process of developing porcelain jewellery and designing 3D bone china mugs. So watch this space.

I also run classes, where a person can come in with a specific project and get all the help they need to make it; or structured courses are available, where the student can learn how to make pottery at a beginners and intermediate level. The student gets coursework literature to keep as well as the pots they make and the costs are absorbed in the fees. A ceramic sculpture course is also available. Details and prices can be found on my website.

Commissions are considered. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your ideas.
