Rain? Yes! Cold? Yes! Snow? Yes! Talent? Yes, yes, yes! Despite our beautiful landscape and stunning countryside, Scotland’s challenging climate has been forcing our talented individuals indoors for generations. Whether writing some of the world’s most loved poems and prose, inventing the television or penicillin, composing music heard from Shetland to Seattle, or handcrafting stunning jewellery, we’ve been busy!
‘Crafted in Scotland’ was set up with the aim of supporting and showcasing the creative talent of the Scots (both native and adopted!). Whilst you might be better sticking to your GP for your penicillin, ‘Crafted in Scotland’ is definitely the place to buy and sell your creations! The best of Scotland’s creative talent is on this site so come on in, sell, browse and buy original unique Scottish wares safe in the knowledge that you’ve got something really special.
‘Crafted in Scotland’ was set up by Fiona Mackay in 2011. A keen crafter, musician, and struggling student, Fiona soon realised that there was a need to further promote and sell Scottish crafts online (thus finding an opportunity to distract herself from looming essay deadlines!). From then the site started to develop. Growing up in Perthshire, being dragged around distilleries and having folk music inflicted on her by family members who will remain nameless (begyou know who you are!), it was impossible for her not to embrace all that is Scottish. For now you will find her running between the library, craft fairs, and Scotland rugby games (poor girl). Feel free to stop her and say hello, distractions from what she should be doing are one of her pastimes!

Karelia House is a fantastic craft shop with a huge selection of wools, fabrics and other craft items and we also run a variety of craft courses.
We are shortly going to be expanding and would now like to stock a wider range of quality (Scottish) craft items on a commission basis.
If you are a craft worker looking for another quality outlet, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Look forward to hearing from some of you.
Karen
