Working primarily in precious metals she produces handcrafted contemporary jewellery including long delicate silver chains and fine silver bowls, using traditional techniques with a modern elegant edge.
Intrigued by hidden openings and containers she often includes these elements in her pieces and is inspired by narratives in the local landscape, history and stories.
Merlin is also an Ambassador for Applied Arts Scotland and a Director for Isle Martin Trust.
Her work can be viewed at a number of galleries, exhibitions and retail fairs - details of which can be seen on her website: www.merlinplanterose.co.uk, twitter @MPlanterose and Facebook.com/MerlinPlanteroseJewellery. She also works to commission and is happy to discuss ideas with potential clients.
She also teaches summer weekend jewellery classes at Bridge House Art in Ullapool.
