Personal Statement

Claire works in textile and illustration to commission and sells in the UK,USA and Europe. Working commercially, for exhibition and to individual commission, alongside her textile work she produces a range of prints executed in scraper board, these are sold throughout the UK. Claire is a textile artist/designer whose work involves mixed media techniques working in an illustrative manner. Rather than being material or media specific, she utilizes an inventive broad approach to the drawn mark whether made through traditional drawing methods or the use of stitch and fabric. She has exhibited extensively in the UK. Commissiones include: Scottish Arts Council; Northwood design and Interiors: woodmansterne publications. Funding from the Scottish arts council has enabled her to move in new directions experimenting with digital print technique. Digital printing on fabric provides an appropriate medium to build on her previous experience in illustration and facilitates the fusion of hand skills and the new media techniques.
