About Maria Gray - Craftay

Personal Statement

Crafty is a small family run business run by Alan and Maria Gray based in Dundee, Scotland. Alan was originally a slater to trade, but was pensioned off due to ill health ( dizzy spells!). To pass the time he started making wooden plaques for our two children, that lead on to friends asking for name plaques for their kids. With both of us keen artists, we realised there could be a niche in the market for personalised childrens wall decorations. That is when we got the idea of trying to make it work as a business.

Once we had made enough differnt samples, we started off by having a few craft parties for friends. Our next step was to target local shops specialising in quality children's wear. We also approached the art and design company 3D/2D, and started doing the craft fair circuit around Scotland. Our crafts have really taken off,we've never looked back.

Hi, I have just opened a small shop in Newport-on-Tay which I use as a studio to paint and sell paintings. I am also selling the work of lots of local crafters. I am restricted for space but the more I have the more interesting the shop is for my customers. I wouldn't mind offering your personalised wall decorations as a service. If you wanted to put up a couple on display I would be happy to take orders for you. My terms are 25% commission. If you are interested please give me a call.. 01382 543116.
    Regards
    Dawn
