Doug works mainly with native hardwoods, preferring to utilise redundant and re-cycled timber wherever possible. The 'low horizontal structures' that he produces, stools, benches, tables, et al, are all individual pieces which have been designed with a practical purpose in mind, yet retain pleasing proportion and form.
Whilst he welcomes the challange of commissions for traditional furniture, he equally revels in the freedom to borrow from nature and produce organic pieces.
The craftsman can merely be a catalyst between nature and art, he sees the potential and displays it to others.
Doug is also a builder and player of good quality tunable 'bodhráns'.
Year Established: 1983
