Sarah-Jane Selwood - Ceramics

Sarah-Jane is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

In her work Sarah-Jane explores the tensions of rhythm, line and space.  She challenges the simplicity and perfection of a form with its disruption and reconstruction.  From the simple curve of an original form lines emerge and she changes the internal and external space of the vessel instilling it with a suspended movement – a tension – a memory.

Her vessels are wheel-thrown, cut and reconstructed in porcelain or terracotta clays, high fires and glazed or hand-diamond polished.

Her work is held in many collections including the Royal Museum of Scotland, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Aberdeen Art Gallery and the World Ceramic Exposition in Korea.

She will be exhibiting this year in the Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow and in 2007 she will be showing work in The Cutting Edge exhibition at the Royal Museum of Scotland and holding a solo exhibition at the Scottish Gallery.
