This five-week course, run by Fiona at Cyan Clayworks, is suitable for beginners as an introduction to working creatively with clay, and also for those who would like a refresher.
It will run each Thursday morning from 10.30 til 1.30 for five weeks. We will cover different approaches to handbuilding including the traditional method of coil building, using press moulds, and throwing on the wheel.
A variety of ways of creating surface decoration (using slips and glazes) will be covered; exploring texture, pattern, colour and markmaking at different stages. Each technique will be demonstrated at the start, and you will be able to work on projects of your own design.
Our friendly working studio is a not-for-profit space. Fiona has over 20 years professional experience in ceramics, and co-runs the space with Chris Donnelly.
