A creative approach to design with tapestry artist Fiona Rutherford at her home based studio in Edinburgh.
18 Nov - 19 Nov 2017
Organised by:Fiona Rutherford rutherfordtextileart.com
Location:Fiona Rutherford Studio
2 Gladstone Place
Often the hardest part of tapestry weaving is unlocking the design from all the possible ideas and colour interpretations that both inspire and confuse us.
Over the two days students will go through a series of steps from the sketchbook to the loom, finding ways to simplify the design process using collage and mixed media. Although the focus is on tapestry weaving students of other textile media may also find the workshop valuable.
This weekend workshop gives you “time out” to discuss and explore your ideas in a creative atmosphere. Numbers are limited to create a relaxed friendly atmosphere and so that Fiona can give her attention to each individual whether you already have an idea of a project you wish to develop or you need to be inspired. You will have access to Fiona’s studio yarns, books and equipment.
