Model, Mould, Cast – Ceramic Slip Casting with Dawn Youll
Wednesdays | 1800 – 2030
31st Oct, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th Nov, 5th & 12th Dec
This course will provide an introduction to plaster as a material for model and mould-making for ceramic slip casting. Over a series of 7 sessions, you will be introduced to a variety of model making techniques and learn how make simple plaster moulds. From these you’ll be able to transform you forms into glazed, slip cast ceramics. This is intended as a basic introduction to plaster and ceramic slip casting so no prior experience is necessary.
Dawn Youll is a ceramicist working in Glasgow. The urban landscape, the studio environment and the making process itself all find their way into her ceramic sculptures. By combining forms, colours and surfaces she creates curious compositions on a domestic scale “to communicate, celebrate and make sense of the world around us”.
