With our Meet Your Maker campaign, Craft Scotland connect craft to the public in a whole new way.
Meet Your Maker gives you the chance to find out more about makers by learning about their work, and how they make their craft. Our exhibitions provide a way for people to meet makers as they work in gallery spaces or run workshops, as well as seeing their final pieces, the inspiration behind the designs, and their work in progress. Our Meet Your Maker videos and interviews provide a glimpse into the life and practice of Scottish makers working in contemporary and traditional craft.
The first phase of Meet Your Maker was an exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland from 29 January to 14 March 2010. The work of nine designer makers from different craft disciplines was on display, alongside sketches, videos and details of their work processes.
From 21 May to 28 June 2010, we took Meet Your Maker to Timespan in Helmsdale, where we showed five contemporary craft makers working across the disciplines of textiles, ceramics, jewellery, weaving and bookbinding.
