Kurinuki is a form of hand building which originates in Japan. Kurinuki or ‘Carving out ‘involves using a block of clay and carving the exterior form and hollowing out the interior searching for a form. Kurinuki is an instinctual and sculptural way of working with clay to make functional ware, allowing the form to evolve and reveal itself during the making process. Over the session you will be able to make two pots finishing with coloured slips.
This 2 hour virtual ceramic studio course allows participants to develop their own projects with guidance and demonstration from an experienced tutor and provides time to connect and be creative with others as part of an online community. This class is ideal for beginners and refreshers.
Classes are delivered using Zoom through live demonstration, individual and group tuition and guidance with additional material (including written teaching supports, recordings of demonstrations and sessions) available.
