Inspired by superstitions and old wives’ tales, each plate is hand built and decorated using painting and printmaking techniques. Brown often uses exposed brush-strokes, fingerprints and mark making adding an element of the hand to her work and providing each piece with such distinct character.
Rebecca Brown graduated from Gray's School of Art with an undergraduate degree in Textile and Surface Design and then later studied an MA in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. Brown makes all of her ceramics from her studio in Yorkshire.
