Drawing & Pattern Making Workshop with Myer Halliday

Learn how to generate complex patterns with the repetition of simple line forms and marks with celebrated Scottish ceramicist, Myer Halliday. The mark and patterns taught and used during the workshop will be based on, but not restricted to, the drawings and patterns that Myer has used in both his ceramics and textile designs. All materials provided.

WorkshopSpoon Carving with Object Company

Using traditional hand tools and techniques, learn how to carve a wooden spoon from sustainably sourced Scottish greenwood. Catherine from Object Company will guide you through basic knife skills, and how to source wood, as well as finishing and treatment options. All materials provided.

WorkshopArchitectural Jewellery Workshop with Naomi Mcintosh

Known for her architectural and structural jewellery, designer/maker Naomi Mcintosh will guide you in composing a one-off piece of tessellating wooden jewellery.

Try processes that Naomi uses in her studio to celebrate beautiful, sustainably sourced Scottish woods. Choose your own forms and patterns by selecting the wooden elements that nest together, creating options for endless unique configurations. Use paints and metal leaf to mix your own colour palette, resulting in a personal neckpiece. Decide on a number of different finishes and leave this workshop wearing your new jewellery. The Southern Upland organically grown willow you will weave with, provides you with a unique palette of colours. Plus, learn about the propagation of the willow and it’s preparation for weaving.
