Join Karin Celestine of Celestine and the Hare and learn how to cultivate a devoted customer base through newsletters, social media, and Substack.
Closing date: 22 Jul 2025
Connecting Makers is Applied Arts Scotland's growing programme of professional development for makers and creative practitioners across Scotland. Whether online or in-person, Connecting Makers helps bring fellow makers together, to share ideas, learn new skills and build a sustainable creative practice.
Connecting Makers activity follows five main themes:
- Crafting a Sustainable Career
- Expanding Your Audience Locally and Internationally
- Building a Digital Presence
- Expanding and Stretching Your Practice
- Fair Work, Ethical Business Practices and Sustainability.
First in the series, this interactive learning session will fall under the Expanding Your Audience theme and will be led by Karin Celestine of Celestine and the Hare. Karin will take a deep dive into how they have built a deeply devoted customer base through their newsletters, social media, and Substack. Karin is an artist author maker, whose many-threaded business includes handmade felted animals, soul-lifting books starring these creatures, commissions, and an impressive breadth of ways customers can interact, and become Karin’s loyal tribe. No matter what you make, this will be a rich two hours of how to use your own newsletters, social media, and Substack to find and build your tribe with love, inclusiveness, and sustainability, and perhaps expand your business model. Please bring your questions.
Free for Applied Arts Scotland Members and charged for everyone else. Discover the benefits of AAS Membership and how to join via the website.
