Self-Directed Residencies taking place throughout May 2026 – March 2027 at Sweeney’s Bothy, Isle of Eigg, and Grinneabhat, Isle of Lewis.
Closing date: 1 Feb 2026
Bothy Project Self-Directed Residencies last one week (seven nights) and are a self-funded route for practitioners in visual art, craft & design, music, literature and performance. Applications are welcome from individual practitioners who are able to demonstrate at least three years of active practice, and are based in the UK or Europe.
Self-Directed Residencies support interesting, ambitious and challenging practices, and provide space and time for practitioners to focus without distraction in a unique landscape and off-grid space.
This year Self-Directed Residencies are offered at both Sweeney's Bothy, Isle of Eigg, and at Grinneabhat, Isle of Lewis. The residencies will take place throughout May 2026 – March 2027.
Self-Directed Residencies are offered at a subsidised rate and are paid for by the selected resident. The subsidised cost for a one week Self-Directed Residency is £550.
