VAS | Inches Carr Makers Mentoring Award

Applications are invited from Scottish early-mid career makers for the inaugural Visual Arts Scotland: Inches Carr Craft Mentoring Award, to be made at Visual Arts Scotland’s (VAS) next annual exhibition in February 2018.

Closing date: 6 Nov 2017

The award is for £5,000 for a maker, plus an additional £2,000 for a mentor whose discipline and/or professional experience would add value to the winner. The purpose is to encourage and mentor makers to develop their practice to a higher level, consider innovation and introducing new materials or techniques to their existing practice.

Shortlisted artists will be exhibited in a dedicated showcase at Visual Arts Scotland’s next Annual Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy, 28 January to 9 March 2018. The winner will be announced during the exhibition and will be invited to develop a new body of work in conjunction with their mentor to be exhibited at the subsequent VAS annual exhibition.

The link to the submissions system will be available on Visual Arts Scotland from Monday 4 September 2017.
