Ogham Cabinet

Ogham are standing stones found across Ireland and the UK. I wanted to evoke their monolithic structure and weathered surface with this cabinet. The cabinet has been bleached to mimic worn stone, the fronts are wood I have split like firewood to reveal an organic beauty in their undulating surfaces which also mimics the natural erosion of stone. The piece is traditionally constructed with four cabinet fit dovetailed drawers, brass door hinges, and shop made veneer back panel and fumed oak drawer and door pulls. Constructed from quarter sawn oak, and ash.

Ogham Cabinet

This is a detail shot of my Ogham Cabinet. It features 4 dovetailed cabinetfit drawers. The drawer fronts have been bleached, the drawer pulls are fumed oak, the cabinet carcase is quarter sawn oak that has also been bleached. The doors on the top half of the cabinet are hung using traditional brass hinges. The back panel is from shop made veneer, the carcase is of mitre construction.

This is a detail shot of the drawer sides in my Ogham cabinet. These follow traditional drawer construction; quarter sawn oak, dovetailed on all corners, rebated runners, solid wood drawer bottom, supporting muntin and piston fit to the cabinet carcase.
