Over twenty years ago I founded ACME Studios; a creative collective working within the museums and heritage sector, providing interpretive responses to sites and situations that communicate stories in playful and engaging ways. Acme Atelier, my kiltmaking practise, has evolved from this, merging heritage craft skills with design expertise to explore contemporary pleated forms made with traditional handstitched methods. What began as my personal tradition, developed into a passion and has now become my profession. By connecting curious minds and craftmakers hands I find new ways to present other craft disciplines within my own. Extending my professional practise with collaborations that conceptually and technically develop kilts, textiles, leatherwork, printmaking and finishes that widen the perspective and potential for what kiltmaking can be, whilst respecting the methods and values inherited from our past to preserve them for our future.
