Formication brooch

The result of many hours hand sawing out ant motifs from sheet metal. The pieces were then assembled randomly into a lace-like sheet. Their arrangement creates a feeling of creepy crawly movement- also known as Formication.

Opposite earrings

Mismatched earrings composed of positive and negative cuts from sheet metal. I have made a series of these pieces as I find the reassembled parts to make an intriguing pattern as the eye searches for recognisable parts within the mass. I also enjoy the resourcefulness of using both sides of my cut and creating as little waste as possible. <br>

Spore Brooch

Brooch in 9ct yellow gold, brass and steel, inspired by microscope imagery of fungus spores. The mesh at the centre is formed into a pillow shape and has been perforated hundreds of times to create an intriguing, ever changing surface.

Tarsus Chain

Handmade delicate chain of carefully forged 9ct yellow gold tapered wires, inspired by the articulated legs of insects.

Marching Ant Brooch
