Felicity studied at Edinburgh College of Art and has an MA in Contemporary Art Practice, a BArch Hons and a Diploma in Architecture. Felicity established Felicity Bristow Studio in 2012 after falling in love with bookbinding and printmaking while studying at Edinburgh College of Art. In her work Felicity explores the complexities of the ‘analogue book’ in abstract, developing the themes of ‘transformation’ and ‘abstraction’ of the book as an object and container for a visual narrative. Felicity’s process based contemporary practice uses bookbinding techniques and materials, investigating paper chromatography with manufactured and natural pigments, artist books, journalling, printmaking, photography and installations to form unique abstract works revealing ephemeral and ‘alternative truths’ about people and place.Awards:QEST Craft Award | Bookbinding Training course (Completed training with Tom McEwan) (2021 - 2025)VACMA (South of Scotland) Grant to support CPD & Research (2019) The Hope Scott Trust, Grant (2016) VACMA (South of Scotland) Grant to support CPD & Research (2016) University of Edinburgh #ILW2016, Award for Collaboration (2016) RIAS Rowand Anderson Silver Medal, Commendation (2000) Andrew Grant Bequest, ECA (1999) Building Design, Top 100 Young Designers in UK (1999) Edinburgh Civic Medal, Civic Medal Exhibition, Shortlisted (1998)
