Fairtrade gold reticulated rings

The organic textures of these pieces were created through the reticulation process, heating the piece til the surface runs. I made these as an experiment to see what properties 18 carat gold had in comparison to sterling silver when using this technique.

Sapphire granule rings

Inspired by the granulation detail found in ancient Roman jewellery hoards, these two rings were made by soldering individually made gold balls to the piece in a graduated formation.

Recycled silver large signet

A heavyweight signet ring in a classic shape, first carved in wax then cast in recycled sterling silver. This piece was reticulated fairly heavily to leave just a faint impression of the former geometric foundation.

Silver shapes bracelet

Each element of this bracelet was textured individally using the reticulation process, then the pieces were moved around to find the most attractive configuration for the bracelet. This was designed as a showpiece for exhibiting at the Fruitmarket Gallery DesignMarket in June 2019.

Fairtrade gold interchangeable garnet hoops

These earrings were designed to showcase the beauty of the Fairtrade gold when used simply. I had the raw materials in my workshop and made the hoop elements initially. The charms were added piece by piece without much planning, but they built up to create a versatile kinetic design.

Chain Bracelet

A handmade bracelet featuring mixed size links in three shades of gold. A mix of polished and matte textures highlights the lustre of the gold.

Heavyweight silver ring with gold asymetrical detailing. This ring features large amethyst and tiny diamond set in yellow gold.
